About the Course

Dropped objects are one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities and serious injuries across Australian worksites.

In industries like construction, mining, telecommunications and resources sectors, even a small unsecured item, such as a simple hand tool, can become dangerous when working at height.

This two-hour awareness course gives you a clear understanding of dropped object hazards, what causes them, and how to control them effectively.

Delivered in Haz-Ed's engaging approach, you'll learn how to identify, assess, and control dropped object risks.

This course is designed to complement Haz-Ed's existing Work Safely at Heights and Heights Rescue programs, building a comprehensive heights safety pathway for workers and organisations.

Without proper controls, dropped objects can result in:

  • Serious injuries or fatalities
  • Project delays and shutdowns
  • Legal and compliance risks
  • Increased insurance and liability costs

Our safety consultants designed this course to reduce these risks fast.

This course is suitable for all workers across the construction, mining, resources, telecommunications, facilities management, oil and gas, and general industry sectors.

It’s especially valuable for:

  • Workers who hold a current Work Safely at Heights or Heights Rescue certificate
  • Site supervisors and team leaders responsible for managing work at height
  • Safety officers, WHS managers and HSRs conducting site inspections
  • Anyone involved in planning or approving elevated work tasks
  • New entrants to industries where working at height is common

No mandatory prerequisite. However, we encourage holding a current Work Safely at Heights certificate, as this course builds on that foundational knowledge.
